Access Runtime

I am working at a corporation where I have multiple clients with their own
instance of the same Access 97 Database. This same database is also used by
separate companies all over the world. They use these databases to place and
track their orders. All the clients access their own database via our
corporate share drive or if it is a client outside the corporation they have
it installed on their PC.

I am in the process of converting these databases to Access 2007 and I want
to redistribute the converted databases to clients outside of the corporate
that only have Access 97. Can I use the new Access runtime tool to
redistribute the database to clients outside of the corporate without
violating Microsoft Licensing agreement?

I am having a hard time finding the information on Microsoft’s website that
would clarify this situation for me. Microsoft says “You can freely
redistribute it or point users to this download.†Does that mean I can freely
redistribute it to users within the same network or does that mean any user
anywhere in the world as long as they have the Access Runtime tool downloaded
on their PC.

Access 2006 Runtime is the first free Runtime. You do not need a license to
distribute it.
