Access Prof. 2003 not installed by Dell by error w/new computer. H

Good day. When I received Off. Prof. 2003 I never bothered to check abt.
Access since it's not a prog. I use much. 6 months ago, I was in need of it
only to find out it wasn't installed by DELL. Now I can't install from my CD
(it's looking for source disk which they have and when they sent me another
CD it still wasn't installation disk), can't uninstall from Control Program,
cannot use Help and Repair and cannot get updates (I have Service Pack 1).
They suggest I completely re-format my hard drive (I'm not about to do that!)
- my question: If I get a stand-alone copy of Access (and I can only assume
that there are certain files missing on my computer, either .msi or .msp),
will that work and fix everything? Thank you for any help!

Yes, a standalone copy should work, but I would stay on Dell's case until
you get what you paid for. Since you bought Office Pro, you need to get it.
There is no warranty period on the install disk set. Keep talking until you
get to someone who can and will help. I stopped buying Dell because their
outsourced help is inferior to the help I was used to receiving. To get to
the level where I can get good service takes way too long.

Thank you very much for confirming what I thought. I contacted Dell and they
have promised to send me out a stand alone version of Access Professional
2003. Hopefully, this will solve the problem. It has taught me a very
valuable lesson - never let anyone preload my software. I'll do it myself,
thank you! - Rochelle (Rivvi)
