Whenever I open an access database and open any of my tables first, Access
2007 Hangs.

Was the database created in Access 2007 or an ealrlier version?

You can see your database, we cannot, so any (and all) information you can
provide will help!

Have you tried this with new datafile and one new table. Open it first and
see if access still hangs. Need to nail down if it is access or the
datafile first. Please ignore Arron as he only has one answer and it is
change to SQL.

Please ignore Pete D as he only has one answer and it is use an
obsolete database.

Jet sucks, even Microosft admits this, they've written that in 1,000
places.

Gee, even you must know that if you pull one sentence out of a 1000 in a
article you can make it say whatever you want. Oh wait, that's what you do.
Why don't you spend some time in the SQL groups and see if you can help a
few folks?

Aaron,

Over the last few weeks I've been watching an alarming trend in your posts.
You continue to make wild, unsupported, claims and personal accusations,
interspersed with obvious and blatant distortations and misrepresentations
of fact. All of that should be an embarrassment to you. Yet it seems only
to grow more intense.

While it's easy to find fault with your posts, it's not so easy, perhaps, to
feel empathy for you, the poster. Yet, that's exactly what is beginning to
surface now. Yes, some folks are finally starting to feel sorry for you.
It's painful watching you flail wildly in public, Dude.

It's time to call for a bit of a break. Why not give yourself a chance to
rest and recover? You obviously have nothing positive to say on most
subjects, and it's long past the time when responding to you has been
anything but an exercise in further frustration. Why not just take a few
days and completely de-compress? Access isn't going anywhere, and neither is
SQL Server. You'll probably feel better if you just take a week, maybe even
two, and think no more about Access at all.

Best of luck to you, Dude.

George;

you continue to make false claims, and support a database that
Microsoft depecrated a decade ago.

Access is going away; it already has gone away.
ACCDB is better than Jet, but not by much.

Please explain to me any claim that I've made that is wild, incorrect
etc-- Mainly I just have been posting articles where Microsoft states
that Jet is ****ing crap and anyone that uses it should upsize to SQL
Server.

So sorry that you don't have the balls to learn a real database.

-Aaron

Pete;

I don't need to save the majority of people-- that use SQL Server--
because they already know the worlds most popular database.

I do need to save you Jet dorks-- who can utilize the same forms and
reports and VBA--
but you're just 'too scared' to see the truth because of some Jet
dipshits that give out Jet koolaid.

**** you and your database.

SQL Server won. Jet crashes. Jet corrupts. Jet doesn't provide
consistency or availability or performance or any administrative
tools.

Gina:
Thank you. This is a something which is originally created in 2007. When I
open a query, and open tables then, the table opens correctly. When I firstly
open the table, Access 2007 goes to not responding state. This is a
standalone db and no network connection exists. Meanwhile when I convert this
db to 2003, everything is Ok and such behaviour is not seen.

Thank you again.

Majid,

Well, that I have not seen and I have a few pretty good size tables. A few
things to check:
1. Under Options, make 'Track name AutoCorrect' is unchecked
2. Go to the Properties of the table in question and set 'Subdatasheet
Name' to [None]
3. Check to see if the table is 'over-indexed', though I would think that
would slow down the query and not the table.
4. Go to the Properties of the table in question and set 'Filter on Load'
to No

And just to see what would happen... I would create a blank Access 2007
database and just bring in that table and see how it behaves.

Gina:

Thank you again. I followed the procedure but there was no change. Something
worth mentioning is that when I open the table in design view first and
switch to datasheet, the problem is eliminated. Now what do you think?

How many records in this table AND what are the field names?

Gina,

I've been having this same issue and came to this newsgroup to see if I
could find some answers. I've tried new blank database and the same thing
happens.

thanks for your replies on this thread.. maybe we can get some help?

I've been frustrated by Access 2007 since we brought in Vista and Office
2007. I've simply left a database sit open with no activity and seen it go to
Not Responding. It runs fine, then for no good reason freezes. The same
database runs perfectly fine with Access 2003 on XP and Office 2003. This has
nothing to do with local or linked tables, SQL, too much or bad data, complex
or simple objects. I've seen it lock up with a brand new blank database, just
like Pat. I'm experienced enough to know a bad product when I (try to) use
it. Unless there's a way to make Access 2007 run smooth consistently, maybe
I'll find a new way.
