Tom

I got the following message: "The Microsoft Jet Database
Engine stopped the process because you and another user
are attempting to change the same data at the same
time." I am the only user using this database! I can't
access it at all. Please tell me how I can get to my
data???? thank you000000000000

Hi Tom,

If I'm not mistaken closing the message box you describe brings up a second
message box
that tells you Microsoft Access "cannot save this record at this time".
After you close that message box,
whatever data it was you were attempting to add will be gone. I have had a
similar problem with a form I
use to add additional records to datasheet subform that would be about three
15" screens wide if I displayed it all at once.
Rather than scrolling sideways in the datasheet subform, I created a second
form that I can open with a command button
to fill in the out of reach fields. I decided to get fancy at one point and
set the Doubleclick event of the last viewable field in the
datasheet to open the second form. But when I entered data in it, I got a
message like yours. So, I went back to opening the second
form with a command button. I guess Access interpreted what was happening as
two people entering data at once, while it was just me, using two interfaces
to add records.
Hope that helps.

This is often a symptom of corruption.
Start by making a copy of your mdb file, because anything more you do has
the potential of making it worse.
Then try Compact and Repair.
If that doesn't take care of the problem, google this (and similar)
newsgroups on Corruption -
there are some fairly extensive sites out there with suggestions.
