Access is denied

We have the same problem here...

The problem is present on machine that received a new image in the
last few weeks.

The only common point is that the source machines that were used for
these new image had all the patch from windows update applied... The
machines on wich we applied the time saving patch individually do not
have the problem...

Some new softwares that we use needs that some users (member of a
security group on the domain) have power user privilege so we wanted
to add that group in the local power user and got the access denied
message...

That used to work fine before...

And also reply to the thread - do NOT start a new thread. this is NOT a chat
room.....

I'm sorry about that... I tought I was replying to the thread... But I
can't reply to the thread look like it is closed and there was no
solution posted...

So here is the original message by RichardH :

Unable to add domain user to local administrator group

When I attempt to add a domain user or group to the local
administrator
group, "Access is denied".

I have tried removing the computer from the domain and adding it
back.

We are able to add users and groups from cmd line, but the settings
don't
actually apply. Users still do not have full administrative
priviledges.

We are running Windows XP Professional SP2 on our clients and
Windows Server
2003 on our domain controller.

Note that the problem occurs for all local groups not only
administrator
