'Access is Denied' when joining computer to Active Directory Domain

When attempting to join a Windows 2000 Pro computer to a Windows 2000
Active Directory domain, I get the following error message: -

"Network Identification": The computer could not be joined to Domain
X, Access is denied.

Now, I'm using admin credentials that I know work. The reason I know
they work is when I build a new Windows 2000 Professional computer
from scratch, I can join the computer to the domain OK during the O/S
install!!

The computers I'm having problems with WERE members of the domain, but
were removed (put into a Workgroup) and I am attempting to rejoin the
domain again.

It doesn't matter whether a computer account exists for the computers
or not, I still get the same error message.

The event logs on the local computers and the DC's record no event
logs.

The account that joins the PC to the domain also needs to be a member of the
domain admins. Please check this.

If this is not the error, it might be that the AD has not replicated the
previous deletion of the domain membership. In order to achieve replication,
use the repadmin functionamity as describe at
