Access Import

I would like to import a mysql file (.sql) into access.
Is this possible?

Yes; you need to get the "ODBC Driver" software from the MySQL
website. It comes with instructions.

John, Thanks for the quick response! I installed the ODBC
driver from mysql but I when I try to open a .sql file
into Access ,I still get the error message -
"unrecognized database format (error 3343)". BTW I do
have the MSSQL Server Service Manager installed.

You can't open it directly, IIRC. Instead, open Access and use File...
Get External Data... Link; select ODBC from the "files of type"
dropdown, and select your ODBC connection.

John, Hate to be a pest but I'm still having trouble - as
follows:
1.I open a blank data base and go to Get External Link.
2.I get the ODBC Driver window and input my user name.
3. I press the Test data button and get an
encouraging "connected successfuly to SQL file".
4. I press OK and then get an ACCESS error window with
the message - "Reserved Error (-7778)!?

Any suggestions?

TIA, Arlen Field

Wish I could help more but no suggestions jump to mind!

Perhaps a repost - here or crossposted in
microsoft.public.access.externaldata (put both newsgroups on the
Newsgroups line, don't multipost) with a subject line mentioning "ODBC
MySQL" would get this to the attention of someone with more direct
experience with this problem.
