Access Denied

My friend who I spoke about earlier who had trouble installing sp2 did a
repair on her pc and now she can't use windows update at all. It gives her
an error "Access Denied."
Does anyone know what is causing this & how to fix it?
Any advise would be much appreciated, thanks

Might help if you specified what the "repair" was..

The repair from the cd...
put cd in and repair windows xp
