access denied when trying to install xp sp2

I had to reload windows xp to repair bad files. All I had was sp1 that came
with my dell 8400 . So after files were repaired and things were working
tryed to update but I get access denied error when I start to install sp2 and
I know I had it on before . I shut down firewall to see if that might be it
but no luck. this is the first time I have ever had trouble downloading
updates . Could use some help.
