Hello,

I have a new Windows Vista box set up. There is one user set up with
administrator priviledges.

I am trying a very basic operation from a cmd prompt: creating a file
in the C:\ (root)
directory.

However when I do this, I get an access denied message.

I cannot copy files on the root of C:

I cannot edit a blank file in c:

How can I configure Windows Vista so that C:\ access is allowed?

Thanks

Try what Ronnie suggested in response to the original post... didn't that
help?

1. Right-click the c:\drive and properties\security page.
2. Click advanced.
3. Take ownership of it.
4. "OK" til the properties box closes.
5. Repeat steps 1 & 2.
6. Select your username from the list.
7. Click edit.
8. Give yourself full access.
9. Repeat #4. Ignore warnings and access denied msgs.
