Windows XP Home, Sp 2. I tried to make a change in the System Configuration
start menu and got the message "An Access Denied error was returned while
attempting to change a service. You may need to log on using an
Administrator account to make the specified changes". I am the only user and
am the administrator. What does this mean and what can I do about it? The
change I was trying to make had to do with the Nvidia remote, but I noticed
that others resulted in the same message.

Are you using a McAfee product?

Yes, I have their latest VirusScan and keep it updated. I tried shutting
it down but it didn't help. I also tried
starting in Safe Mode but that didn't help either.

It is associated with McAfee. From what I have read it, even though it
throws the error it should still make the changes. Check in the McAfee
support forums for more info.
