Access Denied error message

Hi All

I have just had to reinstall windows xp after a fatal system crash. My old user documents folder has some important documents in it and it still exists in its old folder which is C:/Documents and Settings/Owner but when i try to access it i am told that access is denied, because i made my files private on my old installation (I Think). Both the operating systems were installed off of the same setup disk. is there any way i can access these files?

Thank you.

This article describes how to take ownership of a file or folder
to which you have been denied access:
