G Guest Jul 28, 2004 #1 through ESRI software, I export dbf IV files. I can not get an Access database to import these files. But if I bring the files into Excel, save as db III, shorten the name I will be allowed to import. Why?

G Guest Jul 28, 2004 #2 You seem to have done 2 things - shortened the name and converted to db III. Can you tell which solved the problem?

V Van T. Dinh Jul 29, 2004 #3 IIRC, the Import of dbf (IV) only accepts DOS name, 8.3 (could include DOS path also). try renaming to DOS name and place it in C:\ and see if you can import. If you can, experiment from there. -- HTH Van T. Dinh MVP (Access) Joe said: through ESRI software, I export dbf IV files. I can not get an Access Click to expand... database to import these files.
