Access Date vaildation issue

Hi
I have a very simple problem indeed, but I am unable to solve it. I
am inputing a short date into an unbound text box with a short date
input mask. I am in the UK so my date format is dd/mm/yyyy. Everything
works superbly well with one exception.
Example: Suppose I accidentally keyed in 04/13/2005 the program
assumes that I meant 13/04/2005 and swaps the day and the month field
around without displaying an error, so the date is incorrectly
processed as 13/04/2005. How do I stop this please?

Hi
I found auto correct was set to 'yes'. Now this gets me part way
there. It prevents the date from being switched around, but it still
does not trap the error 04/15/2005. This is really strange as I am
using a default date of today which comes up in dd/mm/yyyy format. It
appears to allow both dd/mm/yyyy and mm/dd/yyyy formats - how do I
stop this please?

AFAIK, you cannot stop Access from spining the dates around and trying to
make sense of them.

This behavior gets quite bizarre. If you enter 29/2 when it is not a leap
year, it is interpreted as 1 Feb 2029.

Carriolan, this article represents 13 years experience using Access in a
d/m/y country:
International Dates in Access

It does not solve the problem you you asked about, but it does identify 3
areas where Access can misunderstand our dates.

Carriolan, you posted this question to at least 3 different newsgroups.
Please don't. You waste our time, and fragment the discussion with any good
answers you do get.

If you must post to multiple groups, at least post ONE message with multiple
groups in the heading, instead of multiple independent messages.

Hi Allen
Fair criticism - 6 hours of trying and panic set in! I will follow up
your links thanks.
Regards.

Hi,
Thanks for the links, I'll follow them up. It seems like I am pushing
water up hill and that maybe the preferred method is to use a calendar
based date picker.
