Access Database issue

We have an access database that was maintained by someone that has now left
the company. We need to make a change and perform maintenance and base
updates to the database but can not do so. Along the top of the screen where
the drop down menu options exist all that appears are the following options
"File, Edit, Insert, Records, Window and Help" How can we or is there a way
to get the View and Tools drop down menu options to display once more for
this Access database so that we can perform maintenance and remove the
person's name from some of the options that exist in this database?

Try holding down the Shift key while you open the database.
