ACCESS classes/education

I have written several Access database-however I am self taught and very
dependant on the discussion groups. I would like to become more self reliant
:) regarding Access. I cannot find any classes at the local colleges. My
employer is willing to fund the classes.

Where can I find a source for more education/experience with Access, in
Southern California?

thanks.

Move to Southern Illinois. I teach Access at the local community college!

If we teach it out here in fly-over land, I'd be very surprised that you
can't find it on the left coast. Instead of "Access", seach the college
catalogs for "Database". Also Access might not be taught in the Computer
Science department, but rather the Office Technologies or Business
Departments right next to Word and Excel.

focus on Access Data Projects

the training resources that are available for SQL Server is one of the
strongest reasons to move to ADP

seriously
go to your local CC and take a class on SQL Server and try to find a
class on Vb; Access will come naturally

ADP is _JUST_ like Access but it uses a reliable engine instead of
the crappy mdb format

The Learning Tree offers classes at various sites around the country. I
cannot vouch for any of their Access classes since I've never taken an
Access class from them. I have taken other classes and was satisfied with
the quality of the teacher and the materials.

Be very careful when looking for Access classes. Way too many of them are
too superficial to really benefit anyone who has even the smallest amount of
experience with developing applications. Very few will go into SQL,
form/report events, and VBA which is what you would most benefit from.

If you want to understand database design, any relational database design
class will work. The principles are the same whether you are using Oracle,
DB2, SQL Server, etc. or Access/Jet. The SQL syntax will be slightly
different between implementations but you can find books that compare syntax
and give you examples in each dialect.
