Access Access 97 "count records"

I have an Access 97 report with 2 date fields (date1 & date2). I want a count of all records where datediff is <x. Also need to count records where datediff is >x & <y.

I've been trying to get the formula correct in an unbound textbox but I'm having no luck.

Help would be most appreciated!
