Hi,

Is it possible to run Access 97/2000 on a computer where Access 2002 is
already installed?

What are the precautions to take?

Thank you very much,

Jerome

Take a look at what Michka has at
http://www.trigeminal.com/usenet/usenet019.asp (While it talks 97 and 2000
simultaneously, it applies to 97 and 2002 as well)

Make sure you install each application into a separate subfolder. It's
recommended (but not mandatory) to install them chronologically (i.e. Access
97 first, then Access 2000 then Access 2002)

To avoid the problems to which he refers in Step 5, rename Msaccess.srg to
something else (Msaccess.bak) and create an empty Msaccess.srg file.

ok, thanks everyone!

Hm, doesn't work though!?

After installing Access97 as described on those sites I get the
following when trying to start Access97 (Access2002 starts fine):

'Out of memory'

'A system error occured or there is not enough free memory'

WTF?? I've got 1 Gb RAM ... :)

Any help is appreciated,

Jerome

What operating system?

There's a known issue with Access 97 running with 1 Gb of memory. According
to http://support.microsoft.com/?id=161255 the problem is fixed by upgrading
the Jet Database.

You might also check
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=141294

If you've still got a problem after that, post back, letting us know what
operating system, as well as history of the database you're trying to open
(i.e.: was it created in Access 97, or was it created in a previous
version?)

Ok, thanks! I'll try that!

The OS of the machine is Windows XP.
And it has 512 Mb or 1 GB RAM, I have to check ...
The application was made in and for Access 97.
