Access 2007 wery poor performance upon startup

I have this database made in Access 2003. It contains some sub forms on
a main form. Works ok in Access 2003, opening instantly. BUT opening
this database in Access 2007 Access 2007 is calculating fields for a
long time (some 20-30 seconds) eventually showing everything ok. Why is
this happening?
Tried converting the database to Access 2007 format but same problem.

I just found a setting that seems to help.
From within Access 2007, click the "Office Button" and click "Access Options".
Under "Current Database", at the bottom, unclick all the "Filter lookup
options" check boxes.
Click "OK" and restart the database.

As it turns out, performance is better with my last suggestion, but Access
still hangs at the oddest times, for no apparent reason.

These options control the behavior for "Filter by Form" operations. It
is doubtful they have anything to do with performance at startup time.

My Access 2007 problems are not "startup" related, but affect overall
performance.

I found another helpful resource... the Access 2007 help file (believe it or
not). I've found that the adjustment suggestions mentioned in the "Help
Access run faster" section have actually helped noticeably.

In the help file, go to:
Access Help > Access Home > File and data management > Help Access Run Faster
