Access 2007 import valid path issue

Using Access 2007, we are importing Category.xls and appending to current
table Category. We have started to receive an error message: "\fpcom\Product
sales\product sales reports – query.mdb is not a valid path". This error has
arisen only recently.
We can do the import fine on pc's with access 2003. I have done a compact &
repair to no avail.

What is access doing? why is it looking down that path? The excel file does
not reside in that folder.

any thoughts and help would be appreciated.
thanks.

Where's the code that does the import? It's not a complete path that
you're showing.

this is a manual import. user goes to import excel file and appends to table.
The execl file is called Category.xls and is located in fpweb/cattables. It
is being appended to table called "Category".

No idea where the "product sales reports – query.mdb" comes into play with
this import. And this error does not arise in Access 2003. It seems like a
"normal" excel append to an existing table.

Thanks for the help.

I am hoping someone out there has some insight.

I do not understand why Access is looking to another server & file that is
completely unrelated when I am trying to manually import an excel file to an
existing table.

Does Access 2007 run through some sort of check for all links before it does
any import? There is no issue with the import in Access 2003. I have
compacted & repaired db and we have service pack 1 installed. What has
changed in the internal mechanics of Access 2007 that it will not do the
import?
