Access 2007 databse blowing up in size

I have VERY small Access 2007- 100 or so records that is now 12mb! When I
save back to 2003, it srops to about 1mb.

Am I doing something wong here? I haven't even really put the data in yet.

No, I don't think you are doing anything wrong.
What is happening, I think, is that when saving into a different format, the
database gets compacted, which tends to reduce the file's size dramatically.
If you use it in 2003 a bit, especially when creating forms etc, you'll
notice it'll increase in size again.

On the database window's menu, Tools | Database Utilities | Compact and
Repair. Access does not retrieve storage returned to the system due to
deletion or replacement of Access objects, or of deleted data, until you
Compact and Repair.

Oops. My instructions may not work, due to the UI changes... I don't know,
for sure, what the setup of Tabbed Interface and Ribbon that will get you to
Compact and Repair in Access 2007 (or, for that matter, if it is working in
the Beta version).

I'm going off memory here but:
1. Click Microsoft Office Button (upper left corner-the round thingy <g>)
2. Slide down and highlight Manage
3. Select Compact and Repair Database on the right side of the new File menu

You can add it by going to the little arrow to the right of the Microsoft
Office Button (upper left corner-the round thingy)
There should be a save icon and some others. Pull down the little arrow
choose more commands, then go to the "Choose commands from" and pull down
and choose all commands, scroll down to Compact and repair, highlite and
then click add. It will then be added to your quick Access bar.

Not by memory.

I'll see your QAT shortcut and raise you a few less steps in the process.

1. Click Microsoft Office Button
2. Slide down and highlight Manage
3. Right-click on the Compact and Repair Database option and select "Add to Quick Access Toolbar"

This is the biggest issue i have with the Beta and i'm hoping i'm not
the only one because I sure would like MS to provide a 'classic' view
option
