Access 2003 keeps crashing

Access has suddenly started crashing, and I don't know why.

It opens fine, but then I go to open a data file, and it crashes. No error
other than "Microsoft Access has encountered an error and needs to close" I
then have the option of sending the report.

I've deleted any LDB files of the same name.

I've downloaded files off of microsoft website to see if they will open
(i.e. if it is just the data... they don't)

Once I had the error that there was an ISAM issue. I tried to look at the
regedit but thats beyond me... I navigated to the area stated in the KB
article but then could not see how you would see where the file points to.
And this error has not come up again.

I tried a Regcure & a registryfix hoping if it was a DLL file issue it would
be fixed. No luck.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2003, and then did a repair, and I have
rebooted this machine all day trying to fix

Any ideas?

All MDBs or just a few specific MDBs? What happens if you create a new MDB and
import from an MDB that is crashing on you?

Thanks for the reply.

I've selected other files from the MS website, eg. service calls, asset
inventory, etc. suspecting they are totally clean.

Usually what happens is first the program may or maynot open with the same
error message. If it does open, then you I often get an error with a
triangular yellow box with an exclamation in it that says "Unknown", and then
the crash. (less than 30 seconds open)

Opening holding the shift does not change things.

I deleted all the ldb files, but each try in opening the mdb file brings
them back.

I opened a new db, and tried to import but received the original error
"Could not find installable ISAM"... which I thought was ok from my limited
knowledge of regedit, or that would have been corrected by the reinstall.

I can't import from another mdb file, as I

Good. You'v done the obvious things ensuring that it's not just one or a few MDBs
causing your troubles.

I wouldn't worry too much about deleting the ldbs although it certainly doesn't hurt.

Not necesarily. There is one KB article referecing this message which may or may not
be applicable to your problem. It doesn't quite sound like it but it's worth
checking out.
