Is it just my computer, or has Microsoft eliminated the "sunken" effect
for fields in forms? All my fields look flat regardless of the
formatting effect that has been selected. Thank you in advance for
your help with this.

I think I read in a post yesterday that there's an option that you need to
un-check that Access uses the Windows theme settings.

Try going to Tools | Options on the menu bar and selecting the Forms/Reports
tab. See what changing the status of the "Use Windows Themed Controls on
Forms" checkbox does.

Thank you so much - it worked! I've just started a new project and was
so frustrated by this problem that I couldn't focus on the real work.
Now I can get moving. It's much appreciated!

For a2003, access will take on themed controls.

I actually don't miss the sunken effect..as I find the screens look *much*
more up to date.

With themes turned off..your software has a windows 95 kind of look..and by
simply turning on themes..you get a nice update to date windows "xp" look.
However, you are correct, in that windows XP does not show sunken fields
when you do this.

Here is a few screen shots with themes turned off, and then turned on..you
can see a few sunken fields in one screen that disappear. I do find the
themed screens a LOT nicer, but then again, that is likely just my
taste/option here (your mileage will vary on this issue for sure).
