Hi,

I created a query by using Access 2002 and opened it by
using Access 97 at another computer and I got a error
message " Unrecognized database format 'a:\name.mdb'. My
question is: can I open a Access 2002 database at Access
97?

Thanks,

Xinwa Chang

Nope. None of the file formats are backwards compatible.

can I open a Access 2002 database at Access 97?

No, you cannot.

However, in A2002 you can use Tools... Convert... Save as Previous
Version to create a new database in A97 format (which of course A97
can open). Naturally, any features which did not exist in A97 (such as
Contitional Formatting) will be lost.
