Access 2002 Query to Word 2002 Table

When I bring an Access2002 query into Word2002 as a table, a column
formatted for currency in Access loses its dollar sign and decimal point
followed by cents, e.g. $2000.00 in Access shows as 2000 a Word table. I
have tried bringing the Access query into Excel where I can reformat the
column to show the currency symbol and cents. I can then bring the Excel
worksheet into Word without problems.

I was able to move Access97 queries into Word2000 without the above
problems.

Is there a way to avoid losing the currency formatting or to restore it in
Word2002 without going through Excel?

All you have to do is use the DDE method for the connection to the
data source. That's what they changed in Access 2002.

In Word go to Tools/Options/General and turn on "Confirm conversions
at Open". Then select the Access database again for your data source
and when prompted select the DDE method.

I gathered that the OP was just using copy/paste which will result in a
table being inserted into the Word document and in that case, there is
nothing that can be done other than using a macro to modify the contents of
each cell by adding ".00" to it.

I am very skeptical that what the OP said could be done with '97 is correct
and believe he will have a long wait if he wants to wait for such a feature
to be available in office.

Now that I look at the post again I agree with your assessment. :)

If that's the case then the OP can use the Database toolbar and the
"Insert Database" command. Then if they have the "Confirm conversions
at Open" option turned on they can insert the Access data as a Word
table using the DDE method which will retain the formatting.

Thank you very much. That method enables me to insert the data in an Access
2002 query Word2002 as a table with number formatting intact.

Your skepticism is misplaced. I used Word2000's data toolbar to insert
Access97 data. I did not use copy and paste.
