Hi,

i recently converted the access 97 to access 2000 and i
want to create a work group for my access so that admins
and users have different set of permissions. i want to
create only one set of username and passwords for each
user for all the databases in the network so that they can
access all the databases on the network with same username
and pwd.

following the steps by microsoft, i can successfully
create usernames and passwords for each database
individually but have to create for every database we have.
But, is there a way to create same username and password
for all databases.
Hope i can find way to do it.

Thanks in advance.

No you don't. The usernames/passwords are stored in the workgroup file
(mdw). The permissions are stored in the mdb file. You can create a single
workgroup file and have all your databases use it to authenticate users.
The permissions in each database will dictate what each group/user can do.
Every session of Access uses a workgroup file. There is one set as a
default, which you can override by using a desktop shortcut that specifies a
different mdw.

Just join your secure mdw using Start, Run, wrkgadm.exe. That will join
you by default to this workgroup file. You then can secure all your
databases using this one workgroup.
