Access 2000 DB problems after JET 4.0 SP7 install

R

Roger Faucher

Hello:
My customer is having numerous strange errors with their
Access 2000 DB. The two things I did within a few days of
the problems surfacing were to install SP4 on the WIN2K
(SBS2000) server and install JET 4.0 SP7 to the WIN98SE
and WINXP client systems (they had all been at JET 4.0
SP6). I uninstalled SP4 on the server and they still have
problems. Is anyone aware of problems with JET 4.0 SP7? I
went to the customer site tnight to try and remove SP7.
It can be done on the WINXP systems (except one WINXP
machine said it was already uninstalled - but it's not)
but there seems to be no way to do it on the WIN98SE
systems (except perhaps brute force). Does anyone know
how to remove SP7?

Thanks for any help!

Roger

| Hi Rita:
|
| Thanks for replying. I opened an incident with MS Support
| tonight and we solved one problem by replacing a table
| with one from a pre-error version of the database. The
| major remaining symptom seems to be a table with the
| wrong data, as well. Unfortunately, no backup discovered
| so far. Also, we still don't know why the tables are
| incorrect. However, since I have found a "damaged" table
| that is pre-SP7, I don't think JET 4.0 is the problem.
| If/when we know more, I will post it here. The DB
| developer/designer has been located in Georgia (USA) and
| we hope to speak to him tomorrow.
