Access 2000 - "Compact and Repair" bug ?

Hi all,

I have a problem with the "Compact and Repair" tool of Access 2000 (no SP
installed).
I have a database which contains one table with over 140.000 records.
The table structure : 5 "regular" columns (text and integer) and 19 memo
columns.

When I use "Compact and Repair" tool, some records get corrupted - all text
or memo columns contain after this "################" (the integer columns
are not filled for these records).

Does anybody know something about this bug ?
I was not able to find any info about this problem.
Was it reported in any Access version ?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Daniel,

Already been there :)
Nothing which could help me....
The database is used with Access only for entering new records and only by
one user at a time (and not from a shared resource).
I see no other reason for the corruption except a fault in the "compact and
repair" mechanism.
The error is reproductible on several computers.

I have a problem with the "Compact and Repair" tool of Access 2000 (no SP

That's why.

Sort of like saying "I'm having trouble with the fuel injectors on my
MuscleMobile. Of course I didn't take it in when they had a factory recall on
the fuel injectors..."

The service packs are issued because THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG. If you don't
want to have the problem solved by the SP... just apply the SP.
