Access 2000 and compacting

I have tried compacting a database to shrink its size
but it is not working. There are no records in any of
the tables and I ran the compact database. I have even
checked the "Compact on close" option in tools -
options. Any ideas?

I had this problem once. I was using a startup form
and unchecked some of the options to keep the users out
of the database window. After checking them I was able
to compact the database.

I am not sure what size you expect the database to be but it can be pretty
large, even without data. One of my Front-End MDB file (with linked Tables
and no local Tables) is already about 13 MB.

I tried what Jessica suggested and it worked. I realize
that some databases can be large, but in this one I knew
I had a lot of delete records and when I compacted it
before the size did not change at all. Thanks Jessica.
