Accepting assigned tasks

I am using outlook tasks including reoccurance etc. I can assign a task by email to colleagues and recieve tasks back if they decline. However if I am sent an assigned task by email I do not get the option to accept or decline and therefore the task just sits in my inbox rather than adding to my task list.

I have tried to adjust my toolbars incase I have not ticked the relevant option. I can't find anything that switches the options on.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Thank you

I'm not sure what you mean by "sent an assigned task." It could mean that
someone is forwarding to you a task that they were assigned. Or it could
mean that someone is assigning to you a task in their Tasks folder. In any
case, if you're not working in an Exchange environment, the sender should
make sure that your address is marked for rich-text format.
