Accent mark

I would like to be able to type (in Word) the sort of
phonetic spelling that one sees in a dictionary. For
example: Concento (Kon-chen/to). Notice that I used the
forward slash as though it were an accent mark. But, that
is not what I prefer. I would like to use an accent mark
that is smaller, higher on the line, and more like the
ones one sees in a dictionary. I cannot find that accent
mark in the Character Map. Does it exist in Windows 2000,
or in Word? My thanks to anyone who has the answer.

What characters are available and the way the look depend on the font you
choose. My dictionary uses what appear to be normal and bold-faced
apostrophes -- basically short, straight, slanted lines -- but in some
fonts these characters are curved or vertical. which probably isn't what
you want. You may need to pick your accent marks from a different font
than the rest of your text.

If you pull up Word help; type in the word- tilde -it will
give you a list of shortcuts for graves, tildes, umlauts,
etc.
