absolute reference

When I am typing a formula, is there a fast way to designate an absolute
reference? I keep having to go back and put in the "$" sign, which takes a
lot of time. Thanks.
 
Hit F4 when the cursor is near the address. That is, when typing the formula
or afterwards. F4 toggles between the various mixes of absolute and relative
addressing.
