Hello,
Not sure if this is XP question, but thought someone might be able to
answer. I was wondering about the Prnt Scrn function on my Dell Latitude
notebook and most PCs I have seen. I looked in Windows and Dell hardware
documentation and could find nothing.
Can someone tell me what exactly it does and how to use it? Can we actually
use it to print the current screen image and if so how?
Thanks, blessings

It's not a Dell or Windows thing, really - it's ancient.

I use it to grab screenshots when I need to -

Press PrtSc alone to copy the entire screen to the clipboard, and paste it
into whatever you like (you can use MS Paint if you wish)
Pressing/holding Alt and then pressing PrtSc once copies the
foreground/active window to the clipboard, for the same purpose.

Clicking the Print Screen button copies an image of the current desktop to
the clipboard. You can then open any program (MS Word, Paint, IrfanView,
Photoshop, etc) and paste into the program and the image will appear. What
you do with it after that is up to you and what the program you pasted it
into supports.

Alt+Prnt Scrn copies only the currently active window to the clipboard. So
if you only want say the current e-mail message instead of the entire
desktop, click the title bar of the e-mail message and then press the key
combination ALT Prnt Scrn.

Hope this helps.

Pressing the <PrtScn> key copies the entire display to the
clipboard. Pressing <ALT>+<PrtScn> copies only the active Window to
the clipboard (iow, into RAM). To view the screen capture, open a
graphics program, such as MS Paint, and press <CTRL>+V. This will
paste the contents of the clipboard (your screenshot) into the open
file, and allow you to view it or save it as a file for later use.
