Hi,

Question 1:

I read some info about an affiliate program tracking software. The program
works together with "instant payment notification" from Paypal. In order to
have "instant payment notification" my server needs to accept "html posts".
How do I know if my server accepts html posts? I asked the hosting providers
and told me to ask Paypal, problem is Paypal takes some time to anwer.

Question 2:

I would like to set up an affiliate program. Do you know of any script, or
easy to implement software. Preferably on the cheap side.

thanks in advance,

Alfredo

Hi,
Howdy.

Question 1:

I read some info about an affiliate program tracking
software. The program works together with "instant
payment notification" from Paypal. In order to have
"instant payment notification" my server needs to
accept "html posts". How do I know if my server accepts

Usually, this means that your visitor enters some
information, and submits a request that causes your Web
server to send a request (an http post) to (in this case)
PayPal's server. Basically, the Web server is acting as a
browser with respect to PayPal.

Most Web servers can do this, but only your hosting
service can say for sure, because they can turn it on or
off.
Question 2:

I would like to set up an affiliate program. Do you know
of any script, or easy to implement software. Preferably
on the cheap side.

Sorry, I can't help you on this one. However, it would
probably help if you'd explain what you want
this "affiliate program" to do.

Ok, I'll explain.

I need something that tracks who sends referrals to my site, so I can pay
them on a referral or sale basis.

There are some third parties that administer these systems, commission
junction, partnersmanager, etc. The problem is the cost, it's not expensive,
but it's not worth the money in my case. I don't want to join what's called
an affiliates network, my plan is simpler, partner with webmasters who ARE
interested in the deal and give them a reward, not having my adds in 1,000
sites.

I've seen some scripts, such as php-affiliate, and other cgi based
(yoursoft-tm for example).

I just want some recommendation, perhaps a Frontpage add on, a simple to
implement script, on my server or hosted ny a third party. Whatever your
experience suggests.

thanks for your time,

Alfredo
