About blank?

Hi. Everytime I open IE I get a page loading that say's it's called, "About Blank" On that page it allows me to search for stuff. But when I change my hompage in internet options, it won't stay with the new page I designate. ????

Anyone know why? I have zonealarm Pro running and Ghostsurf running. I shut them off and the same thing occurs.

Please help?

First. Make sure of these settings and nothing will install without you
answering YES. (Except what may install as part of some other software.)

Start | Settings | Control Panel | Internet Options | Advanced tab |
Make sure both of these are NOT checked.

 Enable Install On Demand (Internet Explorer)

I like to run it as blank. That mean I've not been hijacked. If you want a
particular url to come up on IE startup go to tools/internet options and
type in the url you want to start it up with.

That's why the aboutblank: malware is so bad. You don't realize you've been
hijacked. The aboutblank: setting in that case is *not* controlled by the
pc owner.

The point is though that an ingenious spyware/adware has hijacked the
about:blank reference to its own ends, setting up that advertising
search. You can avoid the effect by editing about:blank in Internet
Options to about:mozilla - but if infected you still need to clear the
pest out as Wesley suggested
