aborting a message during the transmition process

How can I abort or delete a message that is being
transmitted? It is a 48 KB message that is in limbo. It
has not been able to be sent nor will allow me to delete
or cancel.

Did you try Shift-Delete?
Is it trying to send it? If it is, while it is trying to send, disconnect
your internet connection or unplug the network cable if you're on a network.
It will eventually "time out" and you should be able to delete it.
Also a tip. NEVER put your real email address in a post. The Spammers have
web crawlers that will mine your address and add it to their mailing list.
Either use a fake address, or munge it. Look at mine and you'll see one way
to avoid getting your address harvested.
