abit vt6x4

have this board -- only has slot 1 on it.

have a celeron 500 chip on a slot 1 board.

i want to remove the cellery 500 and put a p3 800 chip in its place and put it in the abit vt6x4.
initial attempt unsuccessful.

can i do this ? do i need to do something on the slot 1 chip carrier to make it work or is that celery
carrier not going to function with the p3 ?
