Hello,
Any help would be greatly appreciated:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a system with following configfuration:
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional
OS Service Pack: Service Pack 2
CPU Type: AMD Athlon XP, 2166 MHz (6.5 X 333) 2700+
Motherboard DFI NFII 400-AL (5PCI, 1 AGP, 2DIMM, Audio, LAN)
Mobot chipset nVidia nForce2 400
System Memory: 512 MB (DDR SDRAM) - 2 sticks of 256MB Kingston
BIOS: Award (11/25/03)
Video Adapter: nVidia GeForce FX 5500 (128 MB)
HDD: Seagate 200MD IDE and Hiatachi 80 GB IDE
Optical Drives: CD and DVD (both DRW's)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I get the BSOD with the following message:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

"THE USUAL VERBAGE"

STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00008259,0x00000007,0x00000000,0xF825DBD4)

****USBPORT.SYS - ADDR F825DBD4 BASE @ F8243000 DATESTAMP 41107D62
------------------------------------------------------------------

ErrorS are sent to Microsoft and I get the following from them:
----------------------------------------------------------------
Error caused by a device driver

Thank you for sending an error report to Microsoft.

Error report summary

Error type : Windows stop error (A message appears on a blue screen
with error code information)
Solution available? : No (see Next steps)
What does this error mean? : Windows has encountered an error from
which it cannot recover and needs to restart
Cause : Unknown device driver
Computer symptoms : A message appears on a blue screen with error code
information (for example: e.g. 0x0000001E,
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED)
Additional steps for you to take : Important: Please continue to send
error reports so analysts at Microsoft can study and try to correct
the problem as quickly as possible
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I have already done the following to try to resolve the problem:

1. upgraded all the drivers for the peripherals.
2. upgraded the drivers for the mobot chip set
3. Ran memtest for the memory (no errors)
4. Ran CPU Stability test for 12 hours (no errors)
5. Changed memory a couple of time from machines that is not having
problems.
6. Changed video card from a machine that has no problem.
7.Ran Registry Mechanics and cleared any problems there.
8. Re-installed Windows XP.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I plan to try disabling my USB ports. But my printer uses the port so
I really do need it for a working system.
If this fails I guess the only other thing left is to change out the
mobot. But This would mean purchasing another board and I really dont
want to do that until I completely upgrade my PC to an AMD 64 next
year! I have built over 100 PCs over the past 3-4 years and this one
has me completely stomped. Is there a motherboard testing piece of
software out there somewhere?

Ireally need some help. THANKS!!

Man, I ran the verifier.exe that is Windows\System32 dir and my system
came to a complete halt.

The program had me to re-boot and the boot took about 30 minutes to
complete. Over the next 3-4 hours Icould do absolutely nothing on the
system. I finally re-booted and the system continued to be as slow as
molasses. I re-booted several time after that with the same results.
I finally got back to 'normal' by booting into safe mode and running
system restore. I honestly thought I had been led to a virus or
something. The Task Manager showed my CPU at 100% usage and I could do
nothing. Did I do something wrong or what? If it take's such a
length of time shouldn't a customer be warned? I saw nothing about
this on the site and the documentation is very poorly written. At
first I tried to run the program from the 'RUN' command, but it
wouldn't do anything, then I went to the dir and clicked it. I asked
it to verify all my drivers and it told me to re-boot. When the
system re-booted, the slowness began.

Hi,

You can use a system restore to get back (as you now know, that should be in
the article but isn't yet). What is needed is the stop error that was
produced - if it created a dump file this too is useful.

I did use the system restore and it worked fine. I posted the stop
error on my 1st post, but here it is again:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I get the BSOD with the following message:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

"THE USUAL VERBAGE"

STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00008259,0x00000007,0x00000000,0xF825DBD4)

****USBPORT.SYS - ADDR F825DBD4 BASE @ F8243000 DATESTAMP 41107D62
--------------------------------------------------------------------
There was a minidump taken and I use windbg to see if it would help,
but there was nothing there to benefit me. I'm not too swift on
reading dumps anyway.

By the way the bugcheck related to this sop message specified a
different stop code as below:
==========================================
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was:
0x100000d1 (0x00008256, 0x00000007, 0x00000000, 0xf825dbd4). A dump
was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini122405-03.dmp.
==========================================
Don't know what the difference is between 0x1d and [0x1d1]??
The first parameter is different, but the others are the same.

Thanks for your help. Should I try verifier.exe again, this time
specifying one or two drivers rather than all? Why did my system go
into a nose dive?

Hi,

Send the dump file to me, use "per req" in the subject line. Also, there is
no significant difference between 0xd1 and the 0x100000d1 error codes. Also,
you stated that you were going to try disabling the USB ports, have you yet
and if so did the stop error still occur?

As I said in the e-mail with the attached mini-dump. I have disabled
the USB ports in my BIOS and haven't had a stop error since about noon
today. If this works, I could keep them disabled and buy a USB PCI
card for my printer and scanner and camera.

Well, I got another stop message today, and for the 1st time it points
to my video driver (I have the latest installed). Earlier, I had
switched video cards from a computer that had no problems, so I am not
wary (at this point) that the card is bad. Maybe I'll try to use a
back level driver. By the way, is the nVidia GeForce FX 5500 card
supported by WIndows XP? (Just a wild thought).

The message was:
