A8V-E Deluxe & dual core AMD

Does anyone have the A8V-E Deluxe running with a dual core AMD 64?

I'm thinking of getting this mobo with a 3800 x2 but it's not clear whether
the mobo supports dual core or not - I've found an article on Asus' site
that says you need bios version 1013 or later for dual core - and the latest
one available is 1009 !

How about A8V-E Deluxe with an ordinary Venice 3500 ? That's got to work
hasn't it?

Failing that, what about the A8N-E instead?

Anyone have actual experience with these patricular boards & processors
combinations?

Thanks ;)

There are no X2's listed here:

http://support.asus.com.tw/cpusuppo...e=1&name=A8V-E Deluxe&SLanguage=en-us&cache=1

X2 support is listed here, so you can see the difference:

http://support.asus.com.tw/cpusuppo...spx?type=1&name=A8N-E&SLanguage=en-us&cache=1

You can also use the "search by CPU" menu on this page, to search
for all motherboards that support a given model of CPU.

Thanks Paul - looks like a 'no' for the A8V-E deluxe then on dual core :(

You might consider the Asus A8N-SLI SE.

It supports X2 cpu and Sata 2 (Sata 300 compared to Sata 150).
It also has the NVIDIA nForce4 SLI which outperforms the Via .
It should be around $25 more than the A8V-E but well worth the price
difference.

I am running the A8N-SLI Premium with an AMD 4400+ Dual core and it is
unbieleivably fast and stable.

Thanks Ron. I'm never going to use more than one graphics card at a time so
I'm going to go for an A8N-E instead

The information on ASUS's web site is incorrect. The A8V-E Deluxe board
DOES
support dual core X2's. Version 1009 of the BIOS is all you need.
Thanks Kevin. I've been warned off the VIA chipset anyway and am going for
the A8N-E instead

Yes, the A8N-E uses a Nvidia chipset and people have reported less issues
with.
