Hello, I just did a fresh install of winXP pro. I am using the latest Via
drivers and the latest ATI videocard drivers. I am using the latest direct
X drivers.

My system is a XP2500 Barton, Ati 9800 pro, 1 gig pc 3200, 450 watt enermax
power supply.

My pc is freezing up when I play games. I was wondering abouty the bios
settings, Do I switch on or off the AGP performance control ? Do I switch
on or off the AGP fast write control ? and finally do I use USWC or UC in
the Video memory cache mode ? Thanks in advance

I have the same motherboard with Radeon 9600 Pro , I have my bios settings
at :
AGP performance control - On
AGP fast write control - On
USWC

I have no freezups at all.
If theses settings don't help try setting your memory to a bit slower
setting.

Hi, are you overclocking the CPU, if so you may have to up the vcore a
little. Also get memtest98 and check the memory is ok...

It might be temperature related. Try measuring the CPU temperature (eg with
ASUS PC Probe) to check if it's not too high. Or try playing with your
computer case open.

I had similar problems with a Nvidia AGP Graphics board and
had at the time to disable a few settings in the BIOS.
But I do not recall which. Your may have to experiment.
But with the latest BIOS (or drivers) the problem disappeared.

My recommendation : go to Asus Web page and download
latest BIOS.
