A7N8X MB/CPU temperature

What are the temperature readings on your A7N8X?

I've a fully loaded Athlon 2600+ (Barton) on a A7N8X-VM,
temperature readings are:
CPU: 55C, MB: 43C

Normal? Anything to worry?

CPU Heat Sink is original AMD copper/aluminum HSF.

Is that CPU temp the socket temp or the diode temp?

It's probably ok, but you really need to the diode temp tp be sure.

How to know whether socket temp or diode temp is read?

The reading is taken from BIOS, right after a long time
(>24 hours) fully loaded condition, and reboot into the
BIOS.

The BIOS reports the Socket Temperature. You need something like
Mother Board Monitor (http://mbm.livewiredev.com/) to be able to read
the Diode Temp.

You temp of 55C (which is the socket) is a little high. The diode temp
will probably be 65 - 70C.

Also the MB temp of 43C is a little high. Obviously it depends on your
room temp.

With a room temp of 21C I would expect the MB temp to be 25 - 27C.

I think you need to address your case cooling in order to reduce all
your temps.

Using Asus Probe (both at idle):

CPU = 34C
Mobo = 25C

This is for an overclocked mobile Barton 2500 (180 x 12.5) with 1.6Vcore;
artic silver, standard HSF and side panel removed.

Impossible to tell, as you don't provide a room temp reading.
However, 43C seems high for the case temp. My case temps stay within 5C of
room temp, and I consider any greater differential as a sign of inadequate
case airflow. You case/CPU temp differential is OK.
What happens to the temps if you remove the case side and blow cool air into
your case?
If you see a marked decrease, that's a sure sign you need better case
ventilation.
