A7N8X-E Deluxe - Strange IRQ assignments??

B

Brian

I just set up a system with this board. Had 3 PCI cards in and booted up. No
cards were assigned IRQs 3-10 (something like that). I thought those IRQs
were always assigned first. APIC is enabled and I installed winXP in ACPI
mode.

Any idea what is happening? Should I be concerned?

If your system works, don't worry.

Ideally you should have ACPI uniprocessor machine in Device Manager (little
point in changing it without a reinstall). That way you'll have 24 IRQs.
IRQ sharing is rarely an issue under ACPI.

Won't IRQ sharing always still occur, given that little table in the manual
that says slot 2 shares with video, etc?

thanks,

It will depend on where you install your cards etc, but yes, in most cases
you will have devices sharing IRQs.

I currently have IRQ 20 being used by: 3Com NIC, nVidia NIC, SoundStorm,
IEEE1394 and all 3 USB controllers. No issues with any of the hardware.
