a7n8x deluxe sounds problems.... HELP!!!!!

I had this mobo tuned and rolling without any problems for 2 years
until I updated my nVidia chipset through MS upgrades. Now I have no
sound and get the following error: "failed to initialize NVIDIA audio
drver! reinstall"

I reinstalled the audio drivers from scratch- I get the same error
when using the original driver and updated driver from ASUS and every
combination in between. I also tried using my old Hercules XP theater-
no sound. I'm completely out of ideas except a fresh load of the
OS...ughhhhhhhh!!!

Anyone have ANY suggestions??
All ideas are welcome and I THANK YOU in advance for any help.

I had the same problem when I made the mistake of trying the MS
update. I got around it by reinstalling the NVidia 2.45 drivers.

update a 3rd party driver via MS, not a wise idea, as the drivers are
prolly 6 months old by the time MS posts them.
