A7N8X Deluxe rev.1.04 RAM issues

Hi,

I bought parts for a whole new setup, a AMD 2500+ barton at 1.83ghz
FSB:333mhz, Avant technology DDR 400 512MB: 2 sticks, and a A7N8X
deluxe rev.1.04 MB. Upon post the system stalls saying "System memory
has failed". Then I put it in single mode instead of dual and it
works. It only worked at 133mhz or lower in dual channel mode. Ok, so
I said the memory must be cheap.

So I went an got myself another 2 sticks of 512MB DDR333 made by
Samsung. I installed it and I again here the system saying "System
memory has failed" but otherwise posts normally. Then I change it to
"by spd" and moved the memory from the 2nd slot to first and kept the
other in third. The issue goes away for about 7 startups and then I
here the message again. And still posts normally. Is the motherboard
just mistaking? I think it is, can anyone confirm that there are
issues with the way it tests ram.

Thanks,
Nite Rider

If you search this forum you'll find many others had issues with the failing
memory from the voice within(including myself). You can turn off the verbal
mis-information via the bios - you really don't need it.

If you want to check your memory just the same, use memtest86 at the link
below - if it passes with no errors after running all night, then the memory
is ok.

Good luck,

the memory fail from the post reporter is common..lot's of people have
posted about that..I run an A7N8X-deluxe rev 2.0 with OCZ Pc3200 EL2
Ram..everytime I enter the bios and then exit..I get that message. I never
get it other than then..and when I do it runs fine anyways.

Yeah it ends up the other chip was too. But mostly it was just cheap ram. I
got 2 sticks of Kingston HyperX PC3700 512MB ram with heatspreader for $130
(steap). These things no issue at all in any mode or speed. I love Kingston
though it's expensive. Plus that motherboard is way too picky about memory.
