Hi folks!

The problem is:
I have full new a Maxtor 160GB ATA-133 HDD, and I want to put a Windows XP
SP1 onto it. But the setup fails after the first restart. It does not seems
to be booting from the HDD. Tried to format each filestystems, but the
result is negative. It doesn't seems to finish with Windows XP setup. Fails
always the first restart / continuous first booting process which doesn't
seems to be starting at all.
Is it possible that my motherboard need a firmware upgrade to solve this
problem?!
It is an: ASUS A7N8X Deluxe 2.0 -brought in March.

Thank you guys in advance;

PS.: Sorry for the bad english.

Hi
Not sure if I know much about this but is it something to do with needing
the SATA drivers installed first so that Win can see the HD? Not sure how
you do that apart form get them on FD and install on to HD before you
commence or something. -Have a search around for further info if this sounds
to be the problem.

There are 2 ways.

With a fresh install, you need to have the SATA drivers on a floppy disk,
and press F6 during the install, when asked to do so.

Or you can load the SATA drivers via Device Manager on your PATA drive, then
clone the PATA drive to your new SATA drive.

Either way, you need to have SCSI as a boot option in the BIOS.

I don't understand - why SATA drivers for an ATA/133?
