If I recall correctly, the E chipset offered better performance and the -E
version is the newer of the two. If I were to pick one I'd take the E.

The main differences (I have an A266 ) seem to be that the E supports
Athlon XP in addition to Athlon and Duron, and up to 1.4GHz, and the E
supports ATA133 (vs. ATA100 for the A266).
