A3 / Custom paper size

I find it rather perplexing. In MS Word, one can just go to page setup and
choose A3 (420x297mm) or custom options, etc eventhough the printer
installed does not support A3 printing.

But in MS Excel the choices are limited to just A4, letter, legal, B5 and
one or two others, but no A3 and custom. After doing a big work sheet i want
to format it to A3 and preview to see how it looks, but i can't because A3
and custom are not available under page setup/papaer size. I am using excel
2000. Any help? TIA

The paper choices available in the Page Setup dialog box depend on the
printer you have chosen to print to in the Print dialog box. If the same
printer is set up in Word and Excel then the paper choices should be the
same; if they're not, it looks like a bug. Not sure how to resolve it, but a
workaround would be to create your A3 paper size as a custom page...in the
Windows Printers panel, select the printer then click Server Properties on
the File menu. In the Forms tab, create a new form for that printer with the
A3 dimensions and give it a name. Then this name should show up in the Page
Setup dialog box in Excel.
