A web site database?

Im looking for a system that would allow offsite employees to upload
information to a web site. This info would then be pulled together and
automatically be processed to produce reports.

At the moment i am looking at microsoft share point and access.

Would this work? Would there be a limit to the amount of employees that this
would handle?

SGT,

I am not sure of all the possibilities, but I can tell you what we use for
our company and clients. We maintain an in-house dedicated server which
houses our access database. The database is split, however, all the front
ends are housed on the server itself. Our clients login using their RDP
(Remote Desktop) or through our website which will automatically launch the
RDP.

We have had up to 20+ users accessing the database at any one time without
any issues. In addition, this set up works much better and is much easier to
maintain than a true web based system.

The keys to making the RDP approach effective is to have your permissions set
up correctly on the server itself and the proper record locking in Access to
prevent corruption.
