a space on the end of an number

I imported some numbers into a column find that I can not do any mathmatical
functions with those numbers. I noticed that their was a Space at the end
of each number and if I deleted that space, then I could work mathmatically
with that number in the cell.

So I did a search and replace in the column and the search would not find
the space at the end of the number..

1) How can i get rid of the space-
2) or how can I quickly convert the column to a number column?

Thanks
Brent

To manually Replace a Char(160) value

on a desktop Ctrl+H then
Find what -- hold the Alt and key in 0160 Alt+0160
Replace with -- leave the to field empty and use Replace All

on a laptop Ctrl+H then
Find what -- hold Fn key and type 0160
Replace with -- leave the to field empty and use Replace All

david- using the alt+0160 did not work- it just beeped at me and entered
nothing... I am using an HP keyboard standard...

I forgot that I have to use the number key pad versus function key numbers-
worked great.
Thanks
