A Question About Sorting....

HI EVERYBODY..
I AM USING MICROSOFT ESCEL 97 I HAVE A DATA SHEET OF 2000 OF OU
CUSTOMERS AND THEIR DETAILS INCLUDING THEIR DATE OF BIRTH IN FORMA
MM/DD/YYYY THE PROBLEM IS I WANT TO SORT THESE CUSTOMER REGARDING THEI
BIRTH DATE BY ASCENDING IN ORDER TO SEND THEM A GREETING FOR THEI
BIRTHDAY BUT THE PROBLEM IS WHEN I SORT THESE CUSTOMERS IT SORT THE
ACCORDING TO THE YEAR OF THEIR BIRTH FIRST AND THEN THE MONTH SO HO
CAN I IGNORE THE YEAR AND MAKE EXCEL SORT THE CUSTOMERS IN THEIR MONT
AND DAY ONLY...

PLEASE HELP

One way;
Insert a column (a "helper" column) beside the date col. (for ex
purposes say the DOB's are in Col A, your helper will be Col B)
In Col B, beside the 1st DOB, insert the formula
=RIGHT("00"&MONTH($A2),2)&RIGHT("00"&DAY($A2),2)
Then, using the fill handle and holding down the Shift key, double click
to copy the formula to the bottom of the list (make sure that there are
no empty DOB cells!).
Now sort the entire list on the helper column ("B")
